True Health And Wellness (THAW) 30-Day Challenge: For our July THAW challenge we will be revisiting the challenges we have faced so far! We will see how to incorporate multiple elements from our past challenges into a well-balanced (hopefully) lifestyle. We will be documenting the struggles, successes, and insights we experience while striving to live a true health and wellness lifestyle.

Run OC Summer Training Series: A monthly 3-part summer series that will include a run followed by a short seminar. Attendees to all 3 events will be entered into a drawing for a $100 ASICS gift card! Check out each event page on www.meetup.com/Run-OC for more details.

Complementary Fire Cupping & Posture Evaluation w/ K-tape WEEK: We will be having our complementary fire cupping and/or posture evaluations with Kinesiology Tape 7/18 – 7/22! True Health And Wellness (THAW) 30 Day Challenge!: We are so excited to announce our new monthly series, THAW 30 Day Challenge. Our challenge for March is going to be participating in barre fitness classes at our local Tustin studio, Enerji Barre! We will be documenting the struggles, successes, and insights we experience while striving to live a true health and wellness lifestyle. The plan is to take at least 3 classes a week for 30 days! Wish us luck!

Tustin Leprechaun Leap 5k Fun Run: The Doctors will be helping and participating in Tustin’s 5th Annual run through the hangers to help support the OC Rescues Mission Veteran Project & charities through the Tustin Community Foundation. Legcon 2016: Dr. Nathan Yeargin will be out of town to lobby for chiropractic rights on Wednesday March 9, 2016. The California Chiropractic Association (CCA) goes once a year to Sacramento to talk to local legislators about the importance of chiropractic care and improved patient access to the care they deserve. Dr. David & Dr. Nathan are CCA members and supporters of helping patients get better care in California.

Stay Young, Run!

Running: It Can Keep You Young

New research conducted at the University of Boulder and Humboldt State have found that seniors who run several times a week to keep up with their physical fitness routine can keep their goals on track. What this research is suggesting is that people who run consistently can actually slow their aging progression.

Running can help keep you younger, at least when looking at age in terms of energy efficiency.

The Study: 

Observed 30 people with the average age of 69 who regularly walked or ran for exercise. Participants were either walking or running at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes or more. They had been doing this physical activity for more than 6 months.

What the researchers found was that those who worked out regularly had more mitochondria in their cells. It is the mitochondria that act as the powerhouse of the cell and help produce the energy our cells need.

It is believed that the muscle cells of the elderly runners are what give them the higher energy efficiency.
